Trafficking Victims Return Home

Four Cambodian men trafficked into forced labor on South African fishing boats were repatriated on Thursday, completing their escape from nearly a year of slavery at sea.

The four were greeted by their families as they arrived at the airport in Phnom Penh, following coordinated efforts by Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Migration Organization to bring them home.

BEIJING, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Chinese police on Monday broke up two major child-trafficking gangs, arrested 802 suspects and freed 181 children, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) said Thursday.

Under the command of the MPS, more than 10,000 police officers took actions simultaneously, catching all the suspects and rescuing all the children in 15 provincial regions including Hebei, Shandong, Henan, Sichuan, Yunnan, according to an MPS statement.

20 million victims of human trafficking

MORE than 20 million people are victims of human trafficking, said the International Labour Organisation on Friday as it launched an awareness campaign coinciding with the London Olympics.

In the campaign, the ILO has set up brightly coloured large walk-in 'gift boxes' that promise passers-by a better life, only to reveal images on the realities of human trafficking in black and white on the inside.
