Despite the common view of the problem, not all, perhaps not even most, human trafficking across the world is related to prostituion. But sex trafficking is a significant enough factor -- particularly in the United States -- that it's worth considering whether legalizing and regulating prostitution might be a way of reducing cross-border trafficking.

Human trafficking racket busted, 4 held

CHENNAI: The city police on Tuesday busted a human trafficking racket in which women from Kerala were taken to Singapore and forced into prostitution. Following a complaint by one of the victims, police arrested two men, Sathya and Johnson, on charges of kidnapping the woman and her friend.

The Tel Aviv District Court on Thursday sentenced the ringleader of an international human trafficking ring to 18 years and seven months in prison.

Rahamim “Rami” Saban was convicted in January of trafficking hundreds of Ukrainian, Russian, Moldovan, Belarusian and Uzbek women into Israel for prostitution, in what the court said was one of the largest human trafficking operations in Israel’s history.
