The Truckload Carriers Association has formed a partnership with Truckers Against Trafficking, a nonprofit organization that educates, equips, empowers, and mobilizes members of the trucking and truck plaza industries to combat domestic sex trafficking.

Domestic trafficking of children continues to be an ongoing problem in Uganda, and aid agencies are working to return victims to their homes.

The International Organization of Migration, or IOM, in partnership with Uganda Women’s Effort to Save Orphans and with Dwelling Places, said it recently returned 51 trafficked children to their extended families in the Karamoja sub-region in northern Uganda.

Hotels are enlisted to combat sex traffic

The fight to stop the sex trafficking of teen girls moved from courtrooms to motel rooms on Thursday.

Noting that the sale of young girls for sex often begins with online ads and ends in suburban hotels, a coalition of officials from law enforcement and the hospitality industry launched an initiative to put hotel and motel workers on the front lines of the fight against prostitution.

The American Bar Association Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) has partnered with the National Council for Children to intensify the fight against child trafficking.

During the workshop at Imperial Royale Kampala on June 28, Dorah Mafabi the Program Manager for ABA ROLI says the partnership was necessary because the Council brings together many organizations that tackle and deal with the issues of children.
