The United States government says Ghanaian women are being forced into prostitution and forced labour in foreign countries, particularly in the Middle East.

According to the US State Department’s Trafficking in Persons Report 2013, Ghanaian women migrating to the Middle East to work are forced into prostitution upon their arrival.

Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are still among the worst countries and are not making any significant efforts to improve, the Trafficking in Persons Report 2013 says.

New York (TADIAS) – Investigators in Florida are looking into whether an Ethiopian woman may have been a victim of human trafficking. The 36-year-old woman, who was carrying an Ethiopian passport, was found taking refuge at a local church, claiming that she escaped abuse from her employers. She told police that she was brought to the United States about 3 months ago by a Kuwaiti family that she worked for.
