Instead, when the 19-year-old was picked up by three burly men awaiting her at Pearson Airport, she was told she now owed $3,000 for her travel expenses and would have to pay them back by working as a stripper and sex worker.

In Cape Town’s latest case of human trafficking, a young woman was allegedly kept captive in a Brooklyn wendy house for seven months and forced into prostitution and drug addiction.

This week the city’s Vice Squad removed the 23-year-old woman, along with a 19-year-old woman, from the residence.

Four Cambodian men trafficked into forced labor on South African fishing boats were repatriated on Thursday, completing their escape from nearly a year of slavery at sea.

The four were greeted by their families as they arrived at the airport in Phnom Penh, following coordinated efforts by Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the International Migration Organization to bring them home.

Lokoja — More than 300 children from Benue State have been rescued from human traffickers by the Quick Response Group Team (QRP) of Nigeria Army along Itobe-Ajaokuta and Okene road.

Parading the children in Lokoja at the Weekend, Major General Alphonsus Chukwu told journalists that the vehicles transporting the children was intercepted along Itope - Ajaokuta - Lagos road by the Quick Response Group (QRG) of his command during a stop and search operation.
