BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The Women's Fund of Greater Birmingham on Friday will provide training to 180 police officers, social workers and medical professionals to help them identify victims of human trafficking.

It's the latest effort in the organization's three-year-old mission to combat a crime they say is all too often invisible.

Go-go dancer gets 80 years for human trafficking

A former Atlanta go-go dancer was sentenced Wednesday to 80 years in prison and the rest of his life on probation after his conviction in Douglas County for trafficking in victims as young as 15 years old for prostitution, authorities said.

Human Trafficking Suspect Remains in Jail

A human trafficking suspect will remain in jail.

Yesterday, Presiding Judge Butch Binford denied a request to lower the bond for Alonso Santiagito.

He was arrested back in August.

Back in 2009, five year old Shanyia Davis was reported missing. Turned out she was raped, murdered, and her small body placed near a swamp. Investigators working the case said Shanyia's mother sold her to a man for $200 dollars.
