Police in the southern province of Tay Ninh on January 24 arrested five local people for involvement in a human trafficking ring.
Three members of the ring were caught red handed while conducting check-in procedures for five girls, who were to be sold in China, at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on January 23.
One of the victims of the gang, Arumugam, a worker from Puducherry, who landed as a bonded labourer at a sugarcane field in Ariyalur district, managed to escape and returned home a few days ago.
According to the report, the incident occurred near a jungle in Belpada village in Kalahandi district of Odisha when the two labourers were being taken back to their homes to recover the money paid to them in advance when they were hired.
