VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- The Vatican, the Anglican Communion and a leading Muslim institution signed a historic agreement to work together to end human trafficking worldwide by 2020.

Vatican City (AsiaNews) - The Middle East and human trafficking were the central theme during dicussions this morning between Pope Francis and the UN General Assembly president Vuk Jeremic. Jeremic also met with Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone, accompanied by the Secretary for Relations with States, Msgr. Dominique Mamberti in the Apostolic Palace.

Pope Francis hails Zambia

Pope Francis has encouraged Zambia to continue with its constructive role in the international community and help in combating human trafficking.

Speaking when Zambia’s Ambassador to the Holy See, Paul Lumbi presented his credentials to him at the Vatican today, Pope Francis who also addressed sixteen other diplomats said he is deeply troubled by the scourge of human trafficking because it threatens the very dignity of humanity.
